Consulting

Designing planted spaces around the people who use them.

Terra Sano provides horticultural and sensory design consulting for organizations, institutions, communities, and private clients seeking to create environments with a clear purpose.

From early planning and site evaluation to planting strategy, programming, and implementation guidance, we help clients consider how people will move through, interact with, and experience a planted space. Our work can support projects ranging from focused sensory gardens to larger campuses, commercial properties, healthcare and recovery settings, educational environments, and private estates.

What We Can Help With

From early concepts to long-term use.

Conceptual Design & Sensory Planning
Developing the overall vision, spatial organization, sensory experience, and horticultural direction for new or existing spaces.

Therapeutic Horticulture Planning
Identifying opportunities for hands-on plant interaction, sensory engagement, accessible participation, and restorative use within the landscape.

Educational Programming & Curriculum
Developing horticultural activities, curriculum, and programming that help organizations actively use the spaces they create.

Workshops & Professional Training
Providing practical education for staff, educators, organizations, and teams interested in incorporating therapeutic horticulture and sensory practices into their work.

Existing Space Evaluation
Reviewing established landscapes to identify opportunities for improved accessibility, sensory engagement, planting strategy, programming, and overall use.

Our Approach

Every space begins with the people it is intended to serve.

Terra Sano does not apply the same design strategy to every project. A recovery center, elementary school, memory care community, corporate campus, and private residence each have different users, priorities, and site requirements.

Our recommendations consider the people using the space, intended purpose, accessibility and sensory needs, existing site conditions, operational requirements, and long-term use. From there, we develop a direction that brings together horticulture, sensory design, and practical programming appropriate to the setting.

This approach allows Terra Sano to contribute at different scales and stages of a project, whether a client is evaluating an existing property, planning a dedicated therapeutic garden, or incorporating these principles into a larger campus or landscape development.
